There appears to be a vibrant jazz scene in Mozambique, with a new festival (the Acácia Jazz Festival) and a number of clubs putting on live jazz regularly, particularly in Maputo. I will come to all of this in due course, but for the moment have written a profile of the South African singer-guitarist, Al Bowlly, who was born in Lourenço Marques in 1899.
